Recent update:
Well it's now 3rd February and January has been and gone so what have we done in the first
month of 2007!
January was quite an eventful month in relation to progress here in OZ.  As you're all aware our
path had not run as smoothly as we ahd hoped because of problems gaining employment (for me,
Karen).  As you know I try and keep this site as honest as posssible without being dramatic so
that people who are thinking of coming over get a realistic veiw of what it can be like to emigrate
(for some people).  So in all honesty January was a month where we had to decide what our next
step was.  We had brought a chunk of money over with us that we could basically gamble with, it
was to allow us to live whilst we looked for work, we hoped that we wouldn't spend it all as it would
go towards a deposit for a house once we eventually bought somewhere.  However becaue I had
been out of work since May '06 the money was running out fast as we know could see the end of
it!  After many hours of soul searching we decided that our only option was to return to the UK
where we knew we'd be able to find work and return to a level of normality, we were so serious
about this that we actually told our family.  However, as is Sod's law, the moment we decided that
we started to question our decision as you then start to see the true beauty in a place and we
then decided that we'd have one last blast at job hunting to see if we could make a go of it and as
luck would have it I landed myself a cracking job!!!
I'm working as a Job Capacity Assessor for Mission Australia, 10 min's from home, company car
and good salary, 1 day off a month plus 4 weeks annual leave and bank holidays off too.  So after
all the ehart ache and interviews it finally paid off.  I started work last Tuesday and although hard
going I think the job itself will be great once I settle into it.  This has now given us the opportunity
to sample life here properly.  True to their form our family have been completely supportive of our
change of heart and completely understand and agree with our decision to give it a go.  So here's
to our life in OZ and who knows we could soon have our own house with a pool!!!
