What don't we miss?
There are many things we don't miss, some are obvious and
other's not so, theses are all our personal opinions, but I am
sure there are others of you out there who agree!
Drizzle - okay, I'm not saying it doesn't rain here, but you just don't
seem to get those grey, drizzly and damp days that go on for ever.
The cold - You do get cool at night in the winter and spring (our
experience so far) but the most you need is a cardigan or light jacket.
But so far the cold has not been missed, I'm not naive enough to think
in the height of summer i won't be begging for a cold day, but so far
the warmth is wonderful.
Lack of facilities for youths - Where we are you don't see them
hanging around in groups on the street, I'm not saying it doesn't happen
it's just clearly not as much as where we lived in the UK.   Here there are
regular organised activities and parks with ramps for bikes and boards,
and surfing activities, etc.etc.etc.
Pub culture - Yes we used to love calling into our local for a quick
beer, and we still on occasion call for a glass of wine or a beer if we're
passing somewhere and have time.  However, when you're here and
see the lack of pubs you realise how much emphasis is put on going to
a pub in the UK.  We live in a large town and so far we've found 1 bar
here, in Fleetwood where we used to live there were roughly a dozen
pubs, plus clubs and working mens clubs.  That speaks volumes.  I
appreciate more people probably have a beer with their barbie here,
but people drink in the homes in the UK too.
